The Museum at North Weald is organising an event to commemorate the the airfield's part in WWII. It's on Sunday July 24th from 11 am to 5 pm.

From Essex Calendar of BBC WW2 People's War Events 2005

North Weald 60

Commemorating North Weald's part in the Second World War, the day will draw together aviation groups, vehicles and aircraft in the period setting of The Squadron Club. Good company, swing music, good food and period atmosphere - the place to be.

Clive Denney is flying in the hurricane, but it would be lovely to see some more WWII aircraft. Can anyone make it? You're also welcome to visit, and it's free entry...

you might want a wander "Up North" tomorrow and ask around, as their's a free airshow on at Walney Island (nr. Barrow in Cumbria), where there are lot of Spits, a Hurricane, a dakota, and Sally-B (B17) turning up amongst others.. :D

I know - I was working at Duxford yesterday and seeing a couple of them off. Unfortunately, I'm working at North Weald all weekend, so yet another of this year's airshows I'll miss. :(

Don't worry 'Babe. You're not on your own.

Apparently Mrs. RH has just informed me that I will also be missing it tomorrow.

That "lad's night out/brownie-point deficit" situation had to catch up with me sometime...

The forecast isn't that great for tomorrow, but just in case anyone's wondering where to go in their Spitfire ...
