I think this has been asked before - but I can't find it.

I have left it on at times for up to and hour but it will not shut down.

Only happened for the first time today. Otherwise all is OK. I have installed a new (and paid for!) DVD copier - now there's a thought I am not happy about.

Any ideas please?

PP,

What version of Windows are you running.

Do you have something running in the background that is preventing it from shutting down?

Try Ctrl-Alt-Del to see what is running.

Well thank you for responding but I found the problem. It was heat! Been discussed before but the CPU was going bananas.
All it needed was for the window (the one that blows air in!;) ) to be open a little more and this cured it - it has been fine ever since.

It IS a problem with AMD and needs a larger heatsink but the real answer is ventilation.

Thanks again,
