250 below 5000'

Hi all, for the benefit of Beer Can Dreaming, would a VB pilot (with current manuals) Please confirm policy on speeds below 5000 feet.

Manual reference is A1 Chapter 8 pages 189 and 196.

Could somebody please confirm 250 below 5000' with the exception of class G which is 210 below 5000'

The 250kts below 5000' and 210kt below 3000' has been brought down as Qantas Safety department policy and implemented through Qantas and forced on subsidary companies such as Jet* and others cause the skygods keep getting into trouble below 5000. I expect CASA ran with the ball and applied pressure to VB to ensure consistency.
The 210kt below 3000 is a total ball ache and hard to achieve with clean airframe at high weight on A320.
But hey why not let it all hang out, burn extra gas and make a little noise over sensitive areas.:8

Can't these suckers fly a jet? Maybe they should be put back on pistons with a couple of big fans to help slow them down.

Flying a jet is easy. I can't remember the last unstable approach I flew. It woulda been years ago when I was new to jets. Wow. Big deal. New guys will do that like I did. That's why the capt will step in and help correct it.

Anyone who subsequently flies unstable approaches regularly should be sacked. It's not that friggin hard.

Why do you view it as being penalised?? If someone can 'fly properly' and they have enough common sense/professionalism they'll just do what the boss says :rolleyes: it's not a competition (but then again, they are a bit tight... ;)

not that I am defending the 210 blw 3000' policy, what landing weights are you talking about in the A320? Even at 66K (J* MLW) 'S' speed is 195kts (ish) and Green dot is conveniently around 210kts. Just fly green dot at 3000' - all too easy! :ok:
