Hi,

Noticed from this photo - http://www.airliners.net/open.file/785705/L/ that the FMS/FMC positions has been taken over by radio panels. Can anyone in the know please enlighten me to where they have put the FMS/FMC units? And why did BA choose to take this option, or is G-EMBD the only aircraft with this setup?

Hi,

with a lot of erj's the fms is on the aft side of the central pedestal. So out of view in this pic. Some erj's have them where the radio panels are in this pic.

Ciao

hi 146,

strictly speaking they are BACX aircraft and there are two types,
ex BRAL, G-EMBC....and ex Brymon, G-ERJA...,
BRAL have 1 FMS, Brymon have 2 FMS, but RMUs are in same position on both types and have been, since i started flying them
5 years ago.
hope that helps.

Quick question, aren't they from the first batch of ERJ145 built?

Question for asking is that a Portuguese Airline ( Portugalia Airlines ) they operate ERJ145 with only one FMS and they were from the first batch built.

Is this an option that airlines ( 1 or 2 FMS's ) have when selection the aircraft?

Thanks

Why does the Embraer 135 and 145 have two different types of FMS units available (Collins and Honeywell)? Why didn't Embraer just standardise on one? And why are the Collins FMS' not linked to each other? This involves the flight crew having to cross-fill the information entered.

Any answers to these questions above would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't the choice of the FMS up to the operator. I know of some EMB145's with dual Universal FMS and some with single Honeywell FMS. As far as I know the Honeywell is more expensive, which could be a reason for an operator to choose another type of FMS.

Is there any extra features that the Honeywell FMS has compared with the Collins FMS?
