I just bought an old wooden propeller to hang on my wall and am trying to find some information about it. For instance, what plane(s) was it used on? History of the company that made it? Anything interesting about the prop, the planes that used it, or the company?

Its a wood prop, 88" long. Decals list "Granby Aviation Limited" as the manufacterer. Other markings include:

G-LA 613C

DIAMETER 88

PIT 834

CHEETA X

AUG 43

SERIAL E2093

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Steve

bump -- one last try. I think this might have been a UK company during WWII, so hoping someone there might have some info. Thanks again,
Steve

It could be off an Airspeed Oxford as these had Armstrong Siddely Cheetah X engines which ties in with the CHEETA X script on your prop. The Oxford (nicknamed the Ox Box because of it's wooden construction) was a twin engined aeroplane used for bombing, gunnery, navigation and radio training amongst other things. The Canadian built ones were powered by Pratt & Whitney Juniors as these were more readily available on your side of the pond. A total of 8,751 were built.

That looks like a promising lead -- thanks! :ok:
