Any airfields by Alton Towers?

Going down there from Liverpool in August, and thought of flying down with a friend to avoid the boring way on the motorway!

Anyone know of any nearby airfields/strips that we could use? The closer the better.

I went there about 3/4 years ago and landed in Tatenhill. It's about a 30-40minute taxi ride. I don't know of any other places up there. Likely a glider field nearer there that you might get into.

there is a helicopter pad on site. Tatenhill is the nearest with a decent runway but there is a longish grass microlight strip at Calton Moor which is about 6 miles away towards Ashbourne. Otherwise nothing else as you are on the edge of the hills there.
