New expiration date

My 737 type rating together with my IR expires the 14/7/2005, but for economical reasons I have to renew them asap. I have been told that I can do it within the 3 months prior to its expiration date. My question is: if I renew them, for example, the 09/05/2005, what will be the new expirationd date? 14/7/2006 or 09/05/2006? I know that if it were the ME piston rating the new expiration date would be 14/07/2006.

I don't have the referance to hand, but I think you answered the question yourself.

I would say the TRE could actually sign it up for 31/7/2006 though.

correct, 31st July 2006 will be the last day of the next validity.
BTW, check your licence, your rating will not expire on the 14th, in JAR it is the ultimo of the month.

A brief phone call to your authorities will confirm that JAR conform ratings expire only on the ultimo of a month, the licence can expire on any date as well as the medical.
