I'm hoping that someone on this esteemed forum might be able to provide me with a high res colour image of a British Eagle B707-138B. Anything much appreciated.

I thought I had one but it turned out to be G-AWDG in Laker colours. I never saw the other EGL aircraft - was it G-AVZZ?

Yes, the other aeroplane was G-AVZZ.

I would like to see your photo of G-AWDG in Laker colours. Also any other 707-138Bs you may have.

Oddly enough it was taken at Liverpool - but I don't recall seeing it in British Eagle colours there.

Tiger_Mate, that's one of the 707-400s (G-ARWD or G-ARWE) that Cunard Eagle operated in the early 60's. Went to BOAC-Cunard when Cunard pulled out of Eagle.

The two -138Bs arrived 67/68 ish not long before British Eagle went under.

No pictures, I'm afraid, but I'm going from memory and some rudimentary records, plus a bit of googling (latter of little help !)

The two Cunard Eagle 707s were -420s G-ARWD and G-ARWE, which went to BOAC in 1963 or so after the departure of Cunard from Cunard Eagle to form the new joint venture with BOAC called BOAC-Cunard. G-ARWE may be remembered by some here as the ship that burned out at Heathrow in 8 April 1968 after an engine fell off on take-off and a quick return to the then r/w 05.

British Eagle ordered, I think, two 707-320Cs new from Boeing (listed as 707-365C). Pending their arrival, they bought or leased two ex-Qantas -138Bs G-AVZZ and G-AWDG.

As for the -365Cs, only one was operated by British Eagle, this being G-ATZD (c/n 19590). It was re-registered in the Bahamas as VP-BCP and also saw service as a lease to MEA. After British Eagle's collapse the aircraft went to BOAC and then British Airways, who operated it till 1983 or so.

The other -365C (G-ATZC, c/n 19416) was not, I think, delivered to British Eagle but went at first to Airlift International, but was soon back in the UK with Caledonian, later British Caledonian, and then later to Bangladesh Biman, later Worldways Canada, later Transbrasil.

I can definitely recall seeing pictures of the -138s and of G-ATZD in flying magazines in British Eagle colours, but they are rare. I'd like to see them now too !
