Is there any noticeable rule of thumb relationship between hours to solo and hours to licence, i.e x3 etc.?

Pre-solo time + however long it takes to bash circuits, off-circuit, solo Nav-Xs, revision and skills test... so to answer your question, it depends on how long you spend on general handling and circuits prior to 'becoming a pilot' :cool: -
