need some help here guys.....what is the definition of a take off?....where can i find the black and white of it?...imagine that you are cleared for take off while you are still taxiing on the taxyway. On linning up on the runway and before you forward he thrust levers for take off, you find a technical problem. Aircraft has not moved. You request to taxy off the runway to rectify the fault. Is this a rejected take off...?????

IMO, there is no "reject" until the brakes have been released. Afterthe takeoff roll starts, it is a reject regardless of speed.

The reason for the question would help. In my company, the power levers have to be moved in advance of minimum take-off position for the "flight mode" to change (and another set of rules to apply). In other companies, different parameters have to be met. Unfortunately, there is no "Black and White" - just grey!
