Any news on when the airport will be operational?

When will they (DCA or Serco) start recruiting ATCOs?

Or just any updates about the NEW airport???

From what I understand, and I'm sure my colleagues in Dubai will correct me if I'm wrong, but the new airport at Jebel Ali is supposed to start operations later next year or early 2007. Starting with charter and cargo operations it will gradually expand to have a capacity of 120 million pax per year. There is enough space allocated for several parallel runways.
Staffing will be a combination of locals and Serco employees. I'm sure there will be more ads in the future in order to staff both airports.
