Hi,

Does anyone know why Benson is not on the TAF or metar sheets on the met office website? You can get it by looking at the search airfields page and selecting it off the map. Why cant it be with all the others? I fly from Wycombe so would be very useful.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Don't know for sure but I would guess it's something to do with it being military.

Foz2 - they say they are always looking for ways to improve their services to aviation so why don't you go to the "give us feedback" link and make your case for its inclusion.

I've just got this from the Met office website:

TAF and METAR request results

METARs

BENSON EGUB 061450Z 24017G27KT 9999 FEW038 13/03 Q1006 BLU NOSIG

TAFs

BENSON EGUB 061335Z 061524 24016G28KT 9999 SCT040 TEMPO 1824 22012KT

Could it be that you've been trying on a weekend, evening or public holiday, when the Met Office at Benson has no forecaster?

Most military airfields have reduced coverage outside of their normal operating hours, although their observations are still taken and fed into the national database. I would have thought a METAR would be available but no TAF.

I have already emailed them and as yet no reply.

Pub User - This is the thing - the TAF and Metars are there on the website for Benson but they are not on the pages with all the others. You have to do a search, rather than just look at the sheets with all the other airfields in the area.

Sorry, I see what you mean now. I've never used those pages before - always just do a search for the ones I want.

There are plenty of other military airfields on the lists, so it's a genuine mystery!

Oh well, I will await their response!
