Would anyone from LAS comment, please?

That's the Stratosphere tower hotel/casino in Las Vegas, not the control tower. It isn't far from the airport though and is over 1,000' high. Kind of cool watching planes bank around it to land.

Edit - Here's a link to their homepage:

Would be worth having one on the top of the new LHR tower :D

Make a bit of money on the side from passengers waiting for flights!!!

From what I have heard, the proposed "emergency escape system" for LHR tower won't be much different.

Forget the rollercoaster, look for the black thing sticking up on the left side of the photo. That is the track for a ride that starts with you sliding over the edge of the tower. Once there it then drops you so you are pointing down at more than 45 degrees.

There is also a new ride that will suspend you over the side while it spins you around at 45 MPH or something. Talk about having confidence in the engineering team.

PS - I was just there last week so that's why I recognised it so quickly.

I have done the rollercoaster ride on top of the Stratosphere Tower, and I can confirm that it is quite scary. The actual ride is not so bad in terms of acceleration and speed, but the view makes it quite thrilling.
The thing that sticks out at the side is even worse, although that ride itself would probably be extremely boring even for kids if it was at ground level. But at 1000 ft, it is a hell of a ride, and I think there was nobody on that thing who did not scream at the top of their lungs.
