RT Practical horray

Hey guys - I passed my RT prac on the 22/03/04 ... I cant find this in any search so my question is:

Is there a lapse time on the date that you pass your RT, to the date that you pass your checkride? I'm still waiting to sit my QCX nevermind my check - even after 7 months of bitterness... :ugh:

In the UK.

Your RT pass is current and valid for 10 years from the date of the exam....

Well, I would have said that the "pass" was valid for 12 months for purposes of application.

Other question to ask is, "Why wait?". If you passed the FRTOL so long agao - why not apply for it?

I applied as soon as I had passed the RT test. I was issued with a 10 year RT licence, then once the PPL was applied for, I was issued with a lifetime one. There was no charge at the time, not sure about now.

Best get my act together, I passed mine a few months back and still haven't got the papers sent off (partly not my fault though). I wasn't aware of the 12 month limit :sad:

Ah crap - So i have until the 22nd of this month to send it off right?

Thanks guys - the reason that i was waiting was just to save a few quid. I was told by my instructor about 7 months ago to hold off because if you send it away with the PPL licence application you dont have to pay. Gues the weather has cost me more of my money!

If you are a pilot or training pilot the RT licence is issued free!

Your flying school while you are a student completes your application form, section 5 'Certificate of Training or Experience for Grant or Renewal' and they will send you your licence free of charge. They do require your medical certificate as evidence. See notes section 8. NO FEE required.

I looked in LASORS.

Validity - The RTF written examinations and practical
test are valid for a period of 12 months for licence issue.
Where a candidate completes the examinations for a
FRTOL in conjunction with a course of training for a
JAR-FCL private pilot licence, the validity of the
radiotelephony examinations may be extended to 24
months from the date of passing the last PPL
theoretical examination, provided that all examinations
are passed within a 18 month period and that
application for both licences is made concurrently. PPL
holders who subsequently apply for a FRTOL will be
required to meet the 12-month validity requirements.

I can testify that the RT exam has a 12 month validity.

Having passed my skills test I got word back that my RT exams had lapsed and would have to resit BOTH the practical and the written!!

No license was issued as another of my exams had lapsed.

All done now just waiting on the paperwork!
