Hi all,

Have got my interview's in a few days and just want to confirm in my mind something thats been bugging me but cant find an exact answer in any of my books.

Can anyone confirm that the UK/USA jet stream always runs west to east and only slows down and speeds up during different parts of the day rather than changes direction?

Thanks for all your help this far and promise this is the last question!!!:8

The jetstream across the Atlantic does flow in a west to east direction but not necessarily in a straight line. It often curves in a southerly then northerly direction in association with frontal activity.

I'm pretty sure there are no diurnal changes as the jetstream is far above any surface heating or cooling effects, which are normally restricted to the lowest 3000ft of the atmosphere.
