This rumour seems to be developing some momentum.
Anyone know anything re this...?

Yes I believe they are still having patent problems with the name JetConnect, so the simplest solution is to change the name.

Nah, it was more like JetConnect would cease to exist and the Australian based JetStar would be doing the flying instead.

IE, job losses.

why doesnt jet connect have a website, i went to apply but didnt know how, i know they are part of qantas

Jetconnect recruits through pilot.staffcv.com they don't have a website because they operate Qantas services (unlike JQ/AO).

It would be more likely that Jetconnect became Jetstar, Jetconnect has a much lower cost base then Jetstar.

Just a rumour so take it for what it's worth - I heard Jetconnect were getting a couple of QF 737-400s and would be operating them in Jet Star colours. Don't know what routes, but presumedly trans Tasman to fly the Jet Star flag.
Interesting times on the Tasman.
