You may not realise this, but for £1.8M (which is the last price I saw for the Slinfold place) you could probably buy any one of a number of airfields around the UK.

Most smaller airfields are struggling to make ends meet.

I don't live a million miles away and I'd guess the house alone is worth about 50-75% of the asking price. The building cost of such a house is a few hundred k at most, and Sussex is the most expensive area outside of central London.

However this is a fantastic opportunity for someone who can operate from the grass strip and who wants security including hangarage (who doesn't).

I would just check the possibility of it getting waterlogged, like Goodwood tends to do. Also... can't fly to or from it directly abroad (Customs)

Looks like a nice place there at Slinfold, Ive been in and out of there once runway was quite smooth, hangars good, not sure about waterlogging, but I dont think there are problems, a friend used to operate there and didnt mention it.
No problem going directly to/from abroad from any private strip IO540, you just have to file your flightplan on the phone or by fax and tell the authorities what you are doing, even ok for going to places requiring special branch. Might be more of a problem if you or pax are not a EU citizen though
