Last Weds morning ,(9th) aircraft seen on finals for Staverton.

What the hell was it?

As far as I could tell whilst keeping half an eye on the rest of the M5 traffic...

single engine
High wing
twin tail- finned
two or four seat sized
probably dark green with dayglo panels?

Not a Miles aircraft; didn't look like a cessna 337

Any ideas welcome - I'm sure I should know the answer!

There's a Broussard based there, was it this?

Phoenix son;

perfect answer thanks, that fits the bill exactly.

You know how it is when you just can't place a type......nice looking aircraft too.

I'll be able to watch the traffic next time.

I was going to say it could have been the Cessna 337 that I fly but that is red, blue and white and of course has two engines.

Besides you'd know it was the 337 as its a pretty loud aeroplane... ;-)

It was probably this one:

I've posted this photo so you can see the big 'T' on the back - gives the parachutists something to aim for, so I'm told.

Hireandhire,

No probs, I was at Staverton last weekend and I didn't see it, would have liked to have done! Still, there seem to be a number of Meteors on the airfield as well as a very smart Javelin on the approach road, so it's not all bad!

:ok: :ok: :ok:

There used to be two of these in Gainesville Texas. Hangar Queens unfortunately, but neat looking a/c.

Staverton?...........Would that be the same as Gloucestershire then?!;)

360 hi

Guilty as charged.

Mostly it's resistance to change, but partly it's because I navigate by motorways anyway.

A few years ago when I had need to fly south from Halfpenny/ Wolver/ International/ Spaceport (delete as applicable) Green I was always navigationally relaxed rattling down the gap between the M5 and the Malvern hills..............you couldn't go too far wrong before Junction 10.

"Gloucestershire" it shall be in future.

I'm sure that with airport 're-branding' becoming more popular it'll be 'Fred West International' before long anyway!:)
