:sad: A South African skydiving instructor plunged to his death when his parachute failed to open during a training session on the outskirts of the Zambian capital, police said on Monday.
The man was teaching four members of the Zambia Universal Sky Diving Club when the incident happened on Saturday, police spokesperson Munganga Chanda said.
He died instantly, she said.
Officials at the South African High Commission confirmed the accident and identified the victim as Theonis Kruger. They declined to give his address in South Africa.
The club was not listed in the telephone directory and could not immediately be reached for comment.
It was the first time such an accident had been reported in the country, where most locals can't afford skydiving. :sad:
