According to data still being analysed, the earth is still resonating from the 26/12 earthquake off Indonesia and that the shape of the earth has been subtely changed. A newspaper report stated that the mean North Pole had shifted 2.5 centimetres eastward.
I know that isn't significant for day to day airways navigation but would it ever get to the stage say for military applications that the earth would have to be re-surveyed to achieve pinpoint accuracy?

Naaaah! With the big bombs, once they're accurate to within a few hundred metres they're happy! :p

Thank you kangaroota, now I know why I can't land the damned aircraft on the centre-line any more - the earth has shifted.

Seriously though, these small changes have been taking place over countless millenia, and will continue to do so. This is but one small increment, and, for the moment, will have negligible effect.
