View Full Version : AUS ATC job options?

I'm trying to find out some info for my wife, who recently tried to get onto the latest course for trainee air traffic controllers.
During the assessment, she failed the very first maths test by a couple of marks, but passed all the others by a very large margin, a couple at 100%.
Although dissapointed with not actually getting in, she was encouraged by the fact that she did well in the majority of the test, and is planning on applying again in 12 months (hopefully they will still be taking people on).
Here's my question -
Assuming she can apply again in 12 months time, between now and then she would like to get some relevant work experience. She is thinking of trying to get something in the ATC field that doesn't necessarily need specialised ATC training - maybe something like flightwatch. She has done some research on the net but can't find any information on anything like this. Can anyone suggest where to find this information, maybe even someone to talk to? Or possibly other avenues of employment along the same line?

We would be grateful for any help!

Pete.

Airservices is the monopoly employer, includes Flightwatch and other support staff such as blip drivers and data support specialists. Suggest she rings them and asks.

Pete,

Just curious as to how you know she passed some at 100%?

I just completed the testing and the only feedback I got was the required pass mark and the mark I received......nothing about what the mark was out of.
