I was watching a TV programme the other night about the ATC at Frankfurt. It was originally a German programme I think overdubbed with French commentary and translation, so what I'm writing may be distorted by the German -> French -> English translation.
The one item that stuck in my mind was trials they're doing / going to start soon to increase runway capacity by 4 planes an hour - not a lot, but if you've got 40 arrivals already, that's an immediate 10% capacity increase.
The plan involves getting different aircraft types to land longer or shorter so wake turbulence clearance times are improved and therefore capacity increases are possible.
Anyone out there know anything about it, or willing to offer comments ?
