Shock Horror!

Boeing 737 collides with snowplough...On The Taxiway!!

Call the press! These 737's must be Dangerous! What was it doing anyway, ON THE TAXYWAY, in the path of the snowplough? Do 737's have a glass cockpit? Just think, a BRS could have prevented the accident!

/Rant Off

Its all to do with the glass cockpit. Had the pilot had his eyes outside, rather than firmly on the screen in front of him, the day would have been saved, obviously ;)

They don't train 'em like they used to. I remember the days when you would come back to the airfield with your PAX onboard, do a barrel roll, spy your mate drinking tea on the tarmac, then dive bomb him pulling up at the last minute, before breaking into a 90° banked turn to final, down in time for tea and cakes. That was real stick and rudder flying, no glass cockpit in site, and if an engine failed, you just put your bird down in a field, smoke a cigarette and wait for the farmer to fix you engines.....

(At least according to Nevil Shute)

Clearly if the 737 had been wearing its Hi-viz jacket the accident would never have happened.:ugh:

The snowplough driver didn't have a valid IR

Have disclosures Scotland been advised of this? Security must be tightened to prevent rogue snowploughs entering a restricted area.

>According to the airport manager, the snowplow was an Oshkosh H-series truck with a 22-foot wide plow.<

Oshkosh - my goodness - that explains everything!

Are B737s to be retrofitted with red stop lights now?

I suspect that the snowplow operator did not have his anti collision lights on and the 737 pilot had inadvertantly left his high intensity strobes on thereby rendering the driver of said snowplough blind...........:suspect:

Could not the snow plough have deployed its ballistic air bag
