Are there any ATCO's on here that work at Leeds Bradford.

Not at Leeds, however, your question doesn't make a great deal of sense.

While there's an airport - they'll need ATCO's - simple.

If you're asking is it worth becoming an ATCO then - yes. The estimated shortfall of fully qualified Controllers throughout Europe is estimated to be 20% over the next couple of years.

However - not everyone who tries to become one does. It takes aptitude and doesn't suit everyone. Bearing in mind your previous few posts have all been concerned with professional pilot training don't think about going down this road unless you really want to.

Chilli Monster, wind your neck in mate! Exactly what doesn't make sense in the post?!? And so what if the guy was asking about training as a pilot? I'm an ATCO, originally I wanted to be a pilot. After visiting towers, and speaking to numerous pilots I decided that air traffic was what I wanted to do. Oh and if you could give me the reference in the ANO where it stipulates that a person may not look for information simultaneously on becoming a pilot or an ATCO that would be appreciated :mad: :*

Serious and honest answer to a normal post - so what is there to 'wind my neck in' about? Not everyone who posts here is 'having a go'.

I'll expand on what I mean though, as you obviously haven't grasped the 'nuances' of what I was getting at.

Job prospects - now, in almost any other business you enter on the ground floor and rise through the ranks to as far as you can. As ATCO's however we're in an interesting situation - we enter at a point where our 'prospects' at one place (which is what the original poster referred to) to use the true sense of the word are limited. Controller - OJTI - Manager. You can improve pay and conditions by moving around, but on the whole that's about the normal 'prospects' for most of the profession. If the words used had been 'career progression' then the above answer is what would have been posted.

As for your comments about looking for both jobs at the same time - again, no need to be so venomous. In training our failure rate is higher than those wanting to be pilots (though our employment prospects are better when qualified).

If the guy wants to do ATC then go for it - I don't think he'll find a better job. What I said however still stands - make sure you really want it as it's that 'hunger' that can get you through the training (along with the hard work)

Just to clarify. I have a number of goals in life, but they all revolve around airlines, aircraft amd airports.

A career in any other industry just wouldn't do it for me.
