According to this article (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=4232) the aircraft was
chartered TRI-MG Airlines jet
in case anyone is wondering about safety/condition of operating crew.
Thank goodness this incident wasn't as bad as it could have been. A couple of days loss of the airport is bad enough, but losing aircrew trying to help would be too much....
Prayers & best wishes for all aircrew, cabin crew, support staff (and indeed all relief/rescue) workers trying to do what they can.... Good on you.

I heard on ABC(Oz) radio that the buffalo survived.

I've never been to Banda Aceh airport but noticed absence of secure perimeter (not even a simple light fence) at other Indonesian regional airports...

i heard Banda Aceh was just a dis-used landing strip until this week.

There are still a few airports in the region working at less than their normal capacity due to the number of airport workers killed or missing in this terrible tragedy.
