Does anyone have information on an incident at MAN recently where 2 aircraft departed simultaneously on 24R and 24L?

I believe the CAA Press Office will answer all of your queries http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/tongue.gif

Yep, don't like these people with absolutely nothing in their profiles...empty, well they might be hiding something!!

Seems a bit late after the event in anycase, as it has already appeared in a lot of the local and national press.

How wrong you are!
As an ATCO with 25 years experience who has not seen the press reports I just wondered what was going on and if the guys involved neede help/reassurance.
Guess that I picked the wrong place to post my enquiry!

PPIMan,

I am sure that as an ATCO with 25 years experience you will understand how the press will stop at nothing to get the inside track (even unscrupilous actions).

Don't be annoyed, it's just the sound of the ranks looking around.

I don't know the EGCC set up but if they were both in visual contact of the Tower man and separated after take-off what's the problem?

Runways are only 360m apart so cannot be used simultaneously for arrivals OR departures. However can be used simultaneously for arrivals AND departures. Confused? http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/confused.gif - Land on 24R and depart on 24L only but not (as in this case) depart on 24L and 24R. The runways are staggered you see, however between 1200 - 1500 local they revert to 24R only so I guess the incident was around this time with the last on off 24L and the first off 24R or something like. Does any of this make sense? Obviously didn't. It must be the strange way they do things oop north ...
