Has anyone got any advice on where some 757 sim time can be aquired?

Thought about Alteon and GE and got a quote from cranebank, it was a bit steep.

They will quote you the going rate, I doubt you'd find anywhere significantly cheaper.

If you're practising for a sim check and worried about the cost, just remember it might well be priceless....

Gin,

absolutely right. Just worth seeing if it can be gotten a bit cheaper.

There is a global market for pukka, certified sims for active aircraft types like the 757. Therefore the price really is the price, if you know what I mean.

I think the only way you'd significantly would be by using one replicating an obsolete type, like a 727 or L1011 et al.

Have you thought of pairing up with someone? You can learn almost as much from watching others mistakes.

Have you tried talking to Jetlinx who use the sims at Cranebank for MCC? I did mine on the 757 with them very approachable and may be able to offer something.

I would try Jetlinx too.

They could not offer me sim time due to short notice, but the chap who I spoke to spent time on the phone giving me a few pointers with how a jet handles. It was a major help when it came to my sim check.......

JetLinx want 400/hour minimum of 2 hours. I'd consider going halves on that as 1 hour should be enough for what I need, I think

You could also try Ethiopian Airlines, Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. They should offer cheap rates. For accomodation you could stay at Addis Sheraton. Great hotel, l can assure you !

I got offered a good job recently after a 757 sim ride. I practised hard for a couple of weeks using nothing more glamorous than FlightSim 98 but with a proper yoke and rudder pedals (CH Products Virtual Pilot Pro if you're interested).

During the sim ride the instructor even asked if I had been practising using FS98! After the twitchy controls of the computer the 'real' sim was a dream to handle.

I can get the use of a 737 400 Sim for £280Hr. not too bad if there are two people, much the same as a 757 to fly. You can mail me at bigglesone@btinternet .com for more details
