Can anyone confirm did HCS crash today (Thursday)?, just read something on Rumours & News to suggest there was a FLOP, but surprised to see no mention of it here. Not really what we want coming into the busy summertime!

HCS didnt go down on Thursday. The side input display devices (SIDDs) went down for about 20 mins or so, preventing us from inputting any update or activation messages into our Host computer system (HCS). We also lost our links to adjacent centres. Flow restrictions were implemented for ashort while but as it was around midday the effects were not as great as they could have been.
Expect more serious outages as the traffic increases in the summer and the archaic system we operate becomes overloaded.
Its at times like this that the ATSAs can make all the difference on the sectors and really earn their money....

It was not just the SIDD panels. It 'locked out' due to something to do with a link to Swanwick. Link severed - no problem. I heard that it was Swanwick radar related. Nothing to do with RVSM. I don't think it qualified as a flop either.

Copenhagen system was failing all morning; not RVSM related as they are going with the European intro date in January next year.
Things eventually got back to normal about 2100Z.
