Does anyone have any details about the expansion at Monarch? I hear they are desperate to get large quantities of type rated people for 75/320/330/300. What's going on???

Wait for announcement in the near future regarding expansion in Monarch, new scheduled base(s) and an increase in the Airbus fleet. Several new scheduled routes in Europe and a large long haul program for 2005 with at least one new 767-300ER.

Interviews for January for a large number of new F.O's but beware the new salary scale and new terms and conditions, things are not what they used to be in Monarch!

Any chance of low houred pilot recruitment!

Thought I'd ask anyway!

Monarch are interviewing already and yes they are considering low houred pilots with turboprop experience. I suggest you get you application in ASAP

If desperate work for them, the Terms and Conditions are VERY inferior to new joiners however. The pilots are in dispute with the company about the new schedule C, which imposes these conditions on new joiners.
These were outlined on another thread.

However, great people to work with, just a shame to top management are "imposing" these T&C's. Its NOT the happy company it once was well known to be.

Don't work for peanuts, as this will hurt YOU in the future.

Ever since Tim Jeans arrival at Monarch, I have expected an announcement of further expansion via the scheduled side of the business. This may come quite soon then?

Any truth in the rumour of Monarch starting a crown schedule service operation at Leeds? Heard this one in the crew room at Man.

There was a rumour on here a few months ago about monarch basing an aircraft at NCL.

There was a timetable put on here also.

Maybe mytravel to fully pull out of newcastle instead of basing just one aircraft.

Spotty M will lease G-DIMB ( ex MYT B763 ) to operate a line of longhaul for TCX. All route out of GLA & LGW for S2005 only.

Looking on the Monarch website, looks like you can book charter flights from NCL to:
Corfu, Faro, Lanzarote, Mahon, Malaga, Palma, Paphos, Tenerife and Venice

If you try and book a flight from NCL on the Monarch website all the flights are operated by everyone except Monarch.

Good point CentreFix25, just noticed that NCL flights are operated by MYT and BMI

The seats on sale from Newcastle would be with Avro, correct me if I am wrong please, part of the Monarch empire, certainly a close relationship with them?

Monarch's interior on their 757's looks worn out! Went in the cabin of G-DAJB the other day at MAN, looking for the Monarch Engineer, as it went tech, I couldn't believe how outdated it looked.
Monarch have now leased a TCX 757 to operate every Friday for them.
I work on the ramp at MAN for Swissport, and I have noticed that they have repainted all of their A32X/757 fleet i think, well all that come into MAN now are in new colours.

Why are they leasing a 767-300? What about the 4 A300's and 2 A330's? Are they not enough?

I still feel they need to expand their short-haul airbus fleet, why did G-MONW leave?

It would be nice to see them base an a/c at ncl next summer. Im on the ramp for swissport in ncl and we dont see enough monarch except for the 330 in the summer!

Where did you get the info that Monarch is leasing or subbing a TCX 757 on a Friday, you might find it’s a one off event as two Mon 757 are available this Friday? Yes G-DAJB may not look as good as some of the TCX aircraft inside, this will mainly be due to a newer style of interior from Boeing, which is fitted on your aircraft. This aircraft is due for a large maintenance check in the spring and I am sure will look better for it.
The B767 is coming on line to gradually replace the A300 due to better range.
The A320 G-MONW ended its lease, as Monarch did not have enough flying this winter to use it; however had enough work for it in the summer. So it is just economics, which is why you might find Monarch leasing in, for this summer and beyond.
So you are correct that Monarch needs to expand it short haul fleet, which I am sure will happen.
The repainting is nearly complete, just two A330s and one B757 to go I think and the two A300s might not get painted as plans are a foot for them.

Mr @ Spotty M

i got the info from Swissport Operations, and our Ramp manager about the lease of a TCX 757 every friday. As there is alot of 757 flights out on a friday.
Which 757 has not been repainted? G-MONK?
How many 767's are coming in? and where from?
At MAN we have 2 A321's and 1 A320 for ZB flights at the moment, and I can see in summer this will easily double

I will try to find out more about 757.
G-MONK is on a heavy check at Luton, which is why it did not get painted in the last batch.
B767 will come from My Travel and Monarch may be looking for more at a later date.
More A320s will be added in time for the summer.

Have Monarch given at the ghost at LTN now, as far as any further expansion is concerned. No expansion in real terms for years.

MyTravel? They are old! Why not go for G-OOAL from First Choice, the lease is up March 2005.
Well Monarch acquire this 767 on a short-lease or..?
Painted in full colours or just titles, or nothing?

G-DIMB is seven years old, G-OOAL is 5 years old, not exactly a great deal of difference.

Sorry but MyTravel's 767's always seem to go tech, went they used to go to SFB, had to divert loads, or turn back.
At least with FCA's you know they haven't been messed about with, God knows what Garuda do with them!! LOL
Yes I know G-DIMB isn't on lease to Garuda this year!

That's a bit of a wild post there Mark.

'MyTravel's 767's always seem to go tech' - I'm sure they have their fair share of technical issues, but no more than any other widebody fleet that age. 'When they used to go to SFB, they had to divert loads, or turn back' - I'm not aware of any such occurrences in the past few months. 'God knows what Garuda do with them!! LOL' - not even going to rise to that one, but I'm sure there are plenty of MYT staff down there at the moment looking after the aircraft and operation. 'Yes I know G-DIMB isn't on lease to Garuda this year' - to the best of my knowledge, she's operating down there as we speak!

TCX G-FCLH
22nd Dec 2004, 13:49
I'm sorry, I just don't like MyTravel's 767's, and would be very disappionted if Monarch leased one. They have never been painted in full colours, you can always see the Garuda Titles after lease, and now you can see where the MyTravel Logo used to be, they are really dirty.

I think it was G-DIMB that had to divert in America an hour into flight from SFB onroute to GLA, with a fire in the cockpit.

I heard a while back that G-DIMB was the only 763 to be kept on in the MyTravel fleet for a while to operate GLA-SFB routes?
G-SJMC and G-DAJC are both leased to Garuda, I seen G-DIMB last week at MAN with MyTravel titles on stand 23 operating for MyTravel, unless its gone withun the last few days.

TCX G-FCLH
The 3 B767s of My Travel should be operating for Garuda and are being looked after by Monarch engineers as they were last winter.
It did take a little while last time to sort them out and get them in shape, but that was mainly due to who carried out the "C" checks before they left.
