I've just read on AOL showbiz news that British-born film star Ralph Fiennes is to begin work in October at Birmingham Tower, in preparation for a Hollywood film.

Ralph is to play a suave Air Traffic Controller in a cheesy remake of the 1970s 'Airport' films.

Can any other ATC units boast such celebrity visitors?

err.. yes...

Quiz time

Here's the quote: It takes a special kind of person to be an air traffic controller

Who, Where, and When? Oh and does anybody still have that photo on their bosses wall?

We had that Sarah Greene from Blue Peter in LL tower in the 80s - and shes a lot better looking than Ralph.

Well I must say I can't think of a better place if you want to find a suave ATCo! That said, I've never actually seen any of them, but they're remarkably efficient.

Coast,

Hope the way they shifted the traffic in the film isn't the way you guys do it for real! ;)

Seriously, had the jumpseat for landing (on a TSC A330  ) at CYYZ a couple of months ago - impressive stuff!

Martin Shaw ( The Professionals) flies his own a/c out of an aifield near us so came over for a visit. Very nice chap, I just wonder why, when he left, he had to run down the stairs shouting "Cover me!" slid across the bonnet of his Capri and sped off leaving nothing but the smell of burning rubber!

No.1.........I don't think anyone can talk that fast! Actually they were in our simulator and also at the NY TRACON.

Were you on the "24R Silent Approach"? :D

Young Captain Spunkfarter - Since the doomed filming of "The story of low cost airlines" filmed incognito at Heathrow in late 2000, rumour has it that Ralph was unavailable for the "Lead Role" and the Spunkfarter production company has been in decline ever since !

You do realise that thousands of Herr Schlinders posse will be flocking to EGBB for a glimpse of Mr Fiennes so therefore may I offer you an alternative !

I've heard that there is a possibility that another superstar is currently trying to grasps the ropes of ATC in Heathrow Tower, namely Robson Green. Although believeably he has grown a bit, changed his hair colour, and is slightly more feminine than the original, but the voice and eyes are uncanny.

I'm off to find my bi-plane....RF

Mr Fiennes,
I have it on great authority that a well known slick, Blackpoolian pornstar validated today at ICE STATION ZEBRA. Well done mate :)
He's now concentrating on an obstacle he's yet to overcome in life......getting his end away :D :D :D
