That must have been in the south. In the north, all the TAFs included a TEMPO 0916 15G25 (or 18G28) Apparently for Islay it was gusting to 40kts, but I didn't look that far north. Anyway, it was a lovely flying day, but the gusts were definitely there. :eek: Still, I suppose a challenging landing never hurt anyone.

Yup, here in edinburgh my lesson was cancelled due to wind :{

it better be less tomorrow :E

Was indeed in the South, Whirly although I'm off up to North Wales myself this weekend - so I'm hoping the nice weather will shift up there. . . ;)

Was wonderful, I took the day off and got my flexwing out of the hangar for the first time in months. Took a few hours to get it rigged and sort a few minor bits of hangar rash out, but it was worth it - visibility forever, no turbulence, lovely cold air - absolutely perfect.

Better still, I took tomorrow off as well !

I took the Ogar up for a trip today and it was wonderful. Visited good friends and had several £20 cups of tea. Tired but happy.

I think you have our group to thank for this - the aeroplane is grounded for permit renewal work:(

Ours is off on annual in a week (this was our "bye for now" flight) so you can expect AWESOME weather later in the month. :( :)

Sure was a fantastic day. I had booked my cubbing last weekend, so was surprised to find the forecast good weather arrived. It was a bit overkill for a short cross country and circuits... but I wasn't complaining! Fingers crossed we get some more next week, so I can Thrust too.

A cold front to wash the air clean followed by high pressure to keep it still - you can't beat it. Its just a shame that I've got the aircraft on saturday am, which is when a hot front is due overhead :(

I flew in from San Francisco on BA around 13:00 yesterday and in the hold over Bovingdon (overhead my house!) at about 11,000' we could see the whole south coast - from the estuary around to the Isle of Wight, it was beautiful. Later in the approach the views over London were magnificent. I travel in and out from the US fairly regularly, including twice in the last month in addition to this trip, and must say its not often its a clear AND cloud free at the same time... as someone said above.

Of course I'm sure it will be sh1te on Saturday when my next IMC lessons are due...!

Aye I thought it looked ok, but was told by my instructor (CFI no less :D ) that it was too bumpy and not suitable for circuits.

Was slightly miffed when about 40mins later I heard my plane leave edinburgh for a navex with another student :{

theres always tomorrow, or the day after.......:suspect:

It sounds to me like someone was taking the p**s, Blinkz!!

Too bumpy for circuits but OK for a student to try to fly height and heading and navigate.... yeah, right!

ok well I've found out the reason why I didn't have my lesson, and it wasn't anything as nasty as above lol.

It was too windy for me to go solo (instructor thought I was ready last week and was waiting for good weather)

So today, on a totally calm day he sprung it on me :D
