If I were to organise a flypast on Remembrance Sunday by 1 civil aircraft at the school at which I work - the Remembrance Sunday service and parade being a private function - would I (or the pilot, which might not be me) need a Display Authorisation? It seems from the ANO not:

‘Flying display’ means any flying activity deliberately performed for the purpose of providing
an exhibition or entertainment at an advertised event open to the public

as the event is neither advertised nor open to the public, nor would the purpose of the flying be exhibition or entertainment.

The flight would comply with the Rules of the Air including Rule 5. A visual hold would be needed nearby but again this could be VFR in accordance with the Rules of the Air.

Thoughts?

Nothing to stop you flying by, coincidentally, as long as Rule 5 is obeyed

It is not a display it is a salute.

Sounds like you should speak to the CAA regarding the authority to conduct it
