All,

a mate and I are looking to rent a 172 from either of the following schools in Florida;

Sunstate Aviation

Clearwater Airpark

American Flying Adventures

Does anyone have any experience of them, positive or negative??

We're looking to go touring from Florida to possibly as far as Vegas (about 40hrs).

Its been a couple of years since I used Sunstate but they were a good outfit with brand new Cessna 172 SP's with unwanted autopilots on board. Not the cheapest but very user friendly.

Clearwater airpark, very friendly, nice location but the airplane I rented was probably the worst PA28 I've flown. Hopefullly now on the scrapheap!

No experience of American Flying Adventures.

Check out DeBenair at Titusville if you want an aircraft to keep for long distances. I have heard that they are ok for aircraft rental and cheap but again no personal experience.

Good luck, have fun.

Being based at DeBenair here in the sunshine state I am a little biased. I would definitely recommend DeBenair but am not sure if they would be prepared for the 172 to be away from the school for such a lengthy period of time! DeBenair can be contacted on the email link above. All the best.
