A great little article here (http://www.avweb.com/news/columns/188234-1.html). :ok:
But I guess you nosewheel pilot types don't much care. You've got your Jepps to revise and logbooks to fill out to make sure you're current. And none of you could probably handle a day on the ramp in the high desert and then most of the night with the tailwheel types at the casinos. Naw, I shouldn't have even brought up the subject.
P.S. Anyone who can make a Harvard (T6 actually, but let's not be picky!) fly 238 mph (http://www.warbird.com/wrlkpg.html) has my respect! :ooh:

I went down there in a 172 from Canada in 2000 and would recommend it to anyone with an interest in any kind of racing. We landed at Quincy, CA., and drove the last 50 miles because of concerns about meeting slot time requirements at Reno. With hindsight, I'd just go to Reno next time. I don't know if there is any chance of landing at Reno Stead, though, unless you are a retired astronaut.

The sun is blinding and if you are a Brit you will need plenty of protection from it. Happily they were selling straw boaters at the field but I wouldn't count on it! But as a Brit, it was an amazing and unexpected privelige to see that almost every entry in the unlimited had either British airframe or RR derived engine.

An airband radio is a must and binoculars a good idea since you can see the entire course from the stand (I thought they would disappear over the horizon and re-appear for the finish 20 mins later!)

Good to hear from you, Chippik! :)
