I am trying to determine if a pax DC10-30 can land at Southend airport - UK - either unladen or fully laden ??

Im sure it could, whether it could stop before it went off the end of the runway would be the real question.....

Runway length is 1605m.

Guessing might get down just about, but don't think it would get back up again!

A very quick google reveals that the runway is about 200 metres too short.

This is a good result for me, I can live quite happily on the flight path without DC10's, ta very much.

An L1011 made it in (and out again) in 1998, IIRC.

I believe a good steady wind (>15kts) straight down the runway was needed for the departure.

I seem to remember that the limitations for the DC-10-30 lay down a minimum runway of 6100 feet so the answer is no.

In the old days used to circuit bash DC10's at BOH which, if memory serves correct, then had something like a 6,000ft runway.
Couldn't do it with a B707 though, as they say, size isn't everything.
With regards to SEN I think you will find the runway width, not the length, will be the restricting factor, it's not wide enough for an A300 without CAA dispensation.

BOH was OK for a DC-10-10 but not for a DC-10-30 as one of my GK colleagues discovered one morning when he diverted in there. The chief pilot wanted to know how he was going to get it back out again since the runway fell below the minimum runway required for a DC-10-30! It came out empty on a CAA dispensation.

I seem to remember that it was a Vmcg problem.

Are you the person that is considering flying one in?

If so I would suggest you go to the graphs in the AFM.
