Turn over left/right

Why do Dutch controllers instruct aircraft to "turn over left 10 degrees" or "turn over right heading 150"? It drives me potty imagining the poor pilot flipping his 747 or whatever over to make the turn. Please drop the "over", or even better, instruct the pilot to "fly heading .....".

I'm going to do a hard left over to the pub now!
