737 yoke

Hey everyone,

on the left hand side of the 737 yoke are what look like 3 buttons you can slide up and down - or something like that. Anyone know what they do/are? Thanks.

If you are talking about the three sliders on the right pilots, left thumb position and the right pilots, right thumb position on the yoke then those are for setting the flights flightnumber in order to remember.

This is essential in order to manage every pilots lack of memory ;)

To my kwowledge it's the GOLDEN SEVEN slotmachine. A BOEING option for bored pilots.

Flew around for thousands of hours on all sorts of Boeings and always wondered what those damned things were for. Sorry to spoil your retirement but you've been fed duff gen!

Back in the early days of the 737 (before altitude control on the MCP) this gadget was designed as a memory device to set you cleared flight level. Hence the provision for only 3 digits.

Dial in those three digits what you want, ALTITUDE, V2, VREF,
The wedding anyversary your GF birthday or the day you retire.

On the some -200 there's a 4 digit holder in front of the thrust lever quadrant, some might mistake it for the transponder, but it ain't.
