Okay guys, I realise this may be a bit "retentive" of me but can I have a moan?

The ATIS at LGW broadcasts varying winds as eg:

varying from 230 TO 290 degrees. The inclusion of the word "to" in the middle has led to confusion whilst writing it down. Minor point I know but ocasionally frustrationg nonetheless.

I looked up the correct terminology and as I suspected it states the words "between" and "and" should be used. Admittedly the refernce CAP I am refering to is a few years old, but I presume it hasn't changed.Anyone care to comment? or better yet change the ATIS recording?!

Is LGW an Auto ATIS? I think that it should say variable between 230 and 290. Well at least thats what I say whenever Ive done an ATIS

I think LGW is an Automated ATIS, as non-normal messages such as "LVP's in force" stand out as obvious separate recordings.

I too also used to do the ATIS at my home airport (hence the reference material)and thus hope I wasn't getting it wrong all that time.

Perhaps one of the LGW ATC'ers might like to listen to the stock phrases as used by the "maste computer" and comment on it's accuracy?
