Many UK aerodromes now have the ATIS available by telephone on a pre recorded message.
Does anyone know were I can find a list of all the airpors that have this facility and the relevant telephone numbers.

They should be in the UK AIP on the particular aerodrome's pages but I don't know where there is complete list in one place. Luton's ATIS is on 0906 4744474.

This perhaps is something that could usefully be incorporated in The Met Office's 'Get Met 2000' (or rather, Get Met 2001 when it's published. For those of you who don't know, 'Get Met' is a handy little booklet available free from The Met Office which lists very useful telephones numbers, not exclusively to obtain met.

Many METARs and TAFs can be obtained from Dialmet. Dial 09063 800 400, press star, and then a three digit number for the aerodrome you want (358 for Luton, 346 for Gatwick, etc.) Note these are premium rate numbers.

All A bit expensive, those numbers. Use the power of the web!
http://www.avbrief.com/ is quite good. You have to pay for all the good stuff but TAF's/METAR's are free, you just need to register.

True Bright-Ling (I wear one of your watches, by the way!) but you don't always have a computer available to you. So it has to be the jelly bone. WAP is what you need!

WSI's Pilot Brief is also good (www.pilotbrief.net) but again is a commercial site.

You don't even need WAP to get TAF's and METAR's from your mobile.

You can get them via SMS text messages.

Don't have the details to hand but if anyone's interested I can dig them out and post them.

Yes please to the SMS info :-)

This link may also be useful for an at-a-glance list of METARs from various airfields round Europe: http://blinder.lfv.se/met/metar.europe.htm
