Traffic levels are coming up again, but the aeroplanes don't seem to be trying very hard to hit each other & sequencing is a snap.

Anybody else bored?

Karrank, fancy a stint in the sandpit then? We are short a few, traffic is up 65%, major airspace changes, massive mil action. Boring? Not.

Don't know about the traffic but this forum's got boring! About the only thing that's got people going is the prospect of a forum just for NATS whingers.

Does it tell you something???? ;)

TrafficTraffic

Traffic levels up 79%

Not counting military flights

bored??????? not really.

Hey Iron ++ only 65% in your part of the sandpit? I guess you guys count the mil?

TT leave the Poms alone.... :p

I can see from the tone of the debate that you Euro types really don't have anything to do! :D

Still, we have been just sitting watching screens for a while, it's our turn to do a bit for a change

A boring situation is in the mind of the beholder and I've never experienced boredom ever in ATC. It sure wasn't boring this morning - I arrived for work at 6am to see all four Heathrow stacks full and 20+ minutes holding. We must have landed around 50 heavies in the next hour. That's why I look 57 but I'm actually only 23!!!

The trouble is that you have been 23 for 34 years.

Come off it Duck

Traffic levels up 79%

You mean your visits to pub up 79%...oh sorry thats right you cant there....

I know I shouldnt pick on the poms, I mean after all it is like chasing a blind, one legged rabbit, they usually run around in circles for an hour then hit their heads on something and fall over.

(is there room in that bunker for 1 more?...)

TrafficTraffic,
It's true the traffic is thru the roof over here. If you come across a 'goose' over there could you ask him to drop a line to me, a former 'comrade'. I'd like to find out how he is going.
Cheers.
P.S. Where is the sport in picking on poms?

TrafficTraffic

I know of two types of Goose....

There is the rare but always colorful Canadian Snow Goose...as Duck will explain, and there is the Australian Exiled Lesser Spotted Goose....which do you want?

(I understand the Rare Canadian Snow Goose alomost made on the coat of arms of the ATO!!)

Now they are going to say we have hijacked their thread - again!

Quiet yes. I'm one of those voices you talk to. The other night it was sooo quiet, almost eerie. I prefer it when you're busy. Being quiet seems to distract you. We were the only aircraft on a London frequency and the ATCO still managed to give us the wrong frequency for the next sector.

Then we called the next sector and they started off by calling us the wrong callsign (so many aircraft, its got to be pretty tricky!!). We did of course get apologies.

So, I say, lets hope it gets busy again!!

 :D :D

I know, I know, we usually get a sterling service, and it was late....

Hey there chaps...and chappettes, yep lets hijack this thread!
Ahh the raucous snow goose....formerly in SY,BN,CG and UAE...currently in Canada.

The smaller of the species (and much less raucous)up in Uwhat?control.

TT me old mate...Dead set (that's and aussie phrase for "in sooth I say") it's actually become busy here.
Like I said, the 79% does NOT include our grey and mottled camo'd friends
Still we should be reducing their number by several shortly :D back home, or off to browner pastures to the north east.
To give an idea of the traffic...think of a cross between Byron arrivals in the morning and Tops on a doggo. Throw in about 10-15 heavy pop ups (usually at non standard levels against all the civvie stuff sans flightplan) an hour, imagine if you will, poor VHF comms, being surrounded by people that require procedural standards (like Bombay, Karachi, Tehran, UAE (sorry Ferris),having one of your major exit points blocked between FL240 and FL350, and every man and his dog tracking around Pakistan and Afghanistan and mixing it with all our normal stuff.
And then we have the big military excercise on top of that!!!
Ahh, such fun!
But as the man says, if you can't take a joke, you shouldn't have joined....
cheers,
BTW TT...many good pubs hereabouts...threw a party last evening...7 cartons left over! Dohh!! Many more sore heads.... most of them Brits...can't seem to hold their alcohol for some reason.

Hi all
Iam anot a pro avaiation person but U subscribe to a quasi real time flight tracking service which covers North America. some of the Caribean.transatlantic from North America to 50 W and some Pacific stuff within USA jurisdiction. I normally log on regularly at 1700 Z. Before Sept 11 there were normaly 4500/5000 tracks displayed....since then it's 2500/3000. On September 11 at 1700 Z here were 17 tracks in North American airspace all N registerd General Aviation !!!
The facility is available on www.avweb.com[URL=www.avweb.com]web (http://www.avweb.com) page and click on "Flight Explorer " on bar at top of page for details . No! I'm not on commission and no! I have no connection with the service provider !...Just thought that some of you guys out there miht be interested. :p

Aw now look.....

Somebody has hijacked our thread hijack....

Hey Duck, do you know that in LATCC the managers have their own car park spaces? And the staff have to walk from the car park? Have you ever heard of anything so inhumane?

;)

ProceduralVector
29th Oct 2001, 18:15
Come on TT

You will have the poms weeping and crying again over the car spaces.

Look they are just starting to think they are world beaters at cricket again after a few wins over the worst professional cricketing nation in the world (Zimbabwe). How soon they forget the flogging they received during their summer.

They haven't got much to be happy about, maybe that is why they bleet on this site.

divingduck
30th Oct 2001, 08:44
Hey lads, I'm appalled at managers getting preferential treatment  (smacks of the class system don't you think? )

Hey TT, do the lesser raucous goose and Irvs the younger have email addresses? Haven't spoken to them for a while.

PV cricket?? come one now...try to rack your brains to think of a ball sport that the poms invented (thanks to the Poms for most of them) that they are actually any good at!

long list isn't it? :p

ps...soccer is Not a real game...hunkers down into the bunker once again....

Diving Duck,

They are ok at Rugby, but once again Aus beats them at that as well.

divingduck
31st Oct 2001, 00:02
Hey there PV...just back from another shift at the coal face...and what do I see?
A statement saying that the Poms are good at Rugby???? Just because they are the best of the worst (ie having won the six nations) doesn't really mean they are any good

BTW...do you mean Rugby, or League?? Not that that matters to anyone out side NSW or QLD...

sighs...waiting in vain for someone to try to rehijack the thread......
