On the morning of 21st August, MH193 got stuck in mud while taking the turn from taxiway to runway after been given clearance for take-off at its scheduled time of 0050 hrs. The A330 sank into mud with its left undercarriage, and when the cockpit crew tried to free it with an increase in thrust, the wheels created a burrow.

All passengers were taken off and the only runway at Bangalore was closed to all traffice until 0745 hrs.

MH arranged for a relief a/c to be sent out from KL to pick up the stranded pax.

In a statement printed in today's Deccan Herald, AAI officials are quoted as saying that the "will ascertain if it was a result of judgmental error on the part of the MH pilots or a fallout of the poor maintenance of the runway".
