Anybody got any top tips for small grass airfields in this area? Planning to route along the coast from Midden Zeeland up the Friesian Islands to Denmark from Sunday onwards, weather permitting.

Advice re flight guides was much appreciated. In the end, have tried to get the Bottlang's but cannot as it is too late. Will see what I can pick up along the way.

Any other useful info?

Cheers,

QDM

Thanks for that. I know crossing from / into France requires a flight plan. Is that also the case for crossing other borders in Europe?

Yes, with a very few local exceptions.

You do not however need to clear customs for international flights within the Schengen area, so your first stop outside the UK needs to have customs/immigration as does your last before arriving back.

As for guides:

Denmark puts its VFR AIP online (http://www.slv.dk/english/index.php?option=displaypage&Itemid=87&op=page&SubMenu=), as does Sweden here (http://www.lfv.se/templates/LFV_InfoSida_70_30____2591.aspx).

Germany has its IFR AIP as part of the EAD (www.ead.eurocontrol.int) but the most useful online flight guide I've found is http://www.airports.de with links such as this (http://www.airports.de/airport.php?ICAO=EDWR). The Friesian islands are in Niedersachsen, BTW.

I can recommend Sjobo/Sovde in southern Sweden (just a couple of NM's east/ne of Malmo/Sturup).

If you arrive during the weekend there will most likely be a couple of folks at our glider area where you can get some food and beverages, and also a bed if needed. Just make sure to call before.

PM me if you want any details.. I'm flying at this field myself (both gliders and PA28).
