Is the only option for a trip to these countries to buy the Jeppesen Trip Kits? Works out mighty expensive. Any cheap, local airport guides available for them?

The German DAC does an annual blue book - like a mini, VFR AIP.

The Danes have a good VFR guide available on-line - http://www.slv.dk/Publikationer/AIS_Publikationer/VFG/Indholdsfortegnelse.htm (remember to land at Tonder with minimum reserves and fill up with Avgas at about half price).

Netherlands, I keep updated in my Bottlang's so don't know what else is available.

The AIS office are quite good at answering specific queries (operating hours, customs availability etc), and I believe they allow visitors access to the AIP library.

Failing that, ask around and borrow an updated Bottlang's

It's called "Fliegertaschenkalender" and is out-of-date the day it's put on the market... only good for "emergency" infos for airfields, but no substitute for the official AIP or Jeppesen field charts and 1:500000 ICAO charts. I think getting a travel kit is the best bet....

All the above countries AISs can be found on-line, you may well get the info you require there.

See this link (http://www.eurocontrol.int/ais/links/europe.htm).
