BFR question

Or AFR or whatever it's called. Apologies if I'm revisiting well trodden ground.

My two years expire in November. Thing is I fly a Yak 50 which is a complex SEP taildragger with a hole for only one pilot. Based at North Weald.

I only have a very little brain and can't work out how to get this two year thingie done, or more precisely I can't fathom how specific the type requirements are.

Can I go to Stapleford and do an hour in a Cessna with somebody? Or alternatively I do have the use of my mate's Yak 52, which has two seats but is not a taildragger.

If the latter would do the trick and any instructors handy for Weald can do it for the appropriate rate then please let me know.

Tovarich Aerostar - your Yak is still a SEP Class aeroplane notwithstanding its complexity. You fly it on a SEP Class Rating, not a Type rating.
Any dual training flight of at least one hour will suffice if you wish to revalidate by experience and also have the appropriate 12 hours, 6 as PIC and 12 take-offs and landings in the second 12 month period. Technically a quick hour in a Cessna will do just fine - as would a IMC revalidation check.

Any OPC would also count if you're an airliner driver in your day job!

I did a SEP revalidation proficiency check for a chap in his Yak 18T the other week - all I needed to see was safe flying and that was all! You don't need to do your reval. dual flight in a complex type - but I'd be happy to do that for just my petrol cost (12p per mile) if you want to do it in a Yak 52!

OK BEagle you're on, if North Weald is convenient for you. Don't mind what the petrol costs are but wouldn't want you to have to drive too far for an hour's low level aerobatics!

30 mpg @ £.80 per litre equals £.12 per mile. NOT diesel - that's for farmers' tractors or minicabs.

Shall e-mail regarding revalidation shortly; it'd be about 200 miles return from here to North Weald and back, so that would be £24 for my petrol!

By the way - you do mean the revalidation of a SEP (Land) Class Rating on a UK or JAR/FCL licence, not a FAA biennial flight review, don't you?
