French nuclear power plant danger zones

Is it true these aren't marked on the maps, only on a turgid notam?

Anyone got any more info?

They are marked on the latest SIA charts but they should have appeared on printed charts much earlier.

I agree with Ian - the current French ICAO charts are fine, the NOTAM are easy to understand and come with plenty of full colour diagrams, and people like Alderney Airport (http://www.flyalderney.com/notams.html) have been making it easy to find all this on their website as well.

The only thing confusing me is that

Guernsey Flying Club's (http://www.guernseyaeroclub.com/rally/index.htm) website says "Restricted airspace at Cap de la Hague is no longer active", which doesn't seem to be the case?

Restricted airspace at Cap De La Hague is definitely ACTIVE

They are partly correct. The original restricted airspace at Cap de La Hague which was bought in after 9/11 which went out to about 17nm (draw a circle on your map centred on C de la H that goes through the centre of Cherbourg airport and you won't be far wrong) is no longer active.

I believe they are still lacking on the French Jeppesen charts. {The ICAO charts (published in France by IGN (http://www.IGN.fr) {and available from Tra.. oops!, forgot, no advertising! FROM YOUR USUAL CHART SUPPLIER} are IMHO much better anyway; the new colours make airspace much more easily discernable}

The aforementioned SUP AIC has of course the most up-to-date info, and the French (bless them) are constantly updating the info for new "Industrial Sites" as well as nuclear facilities.

I believe a 60,000 Euro fine is the penalty for incursion, along with potential imrisomnent and confiscation of one's flying machine.

Just thought you might like to know that both the French IGN 2004 charts and the Jeppesen VFR/GPS FBS charts have the French permanant "TRA's", they are marked having the format LF(P)-Txx

Yep, just had a load of French Jepp VFR/GPS charts through and the April 2004 editions have the TRAs marked on them.

The AIC linked to above contains graphical details of the TRAs that should appear on the slice of France that the CAA publish on their Southern England charts.
