Tollerton Joining Instructions

Simon Smith, the Nottingham Tollerton Airport CFI, has issued the following joining instructions for pilots planning to visit the Today’s Pilot Fly-In at the airfield on June 13.

Simon says, “All pilots are to contact Nottingham Radio (134.87) prior to entering the ATZ. All joining by aeroplanes should be from overhead the airfield at 2000’QFE for a left hand circuit (800’). Maintain visual separation at all times.

CAUTION
“Pilots should be ‘extremely’ aware that other a/c could simultaneously be joining via the overhead, so please keep a vigilant lookout at all times and listen to A/G frequency.

“We have been informed by the CAA that a photography balloon will be tethered at Trent Bridge cricket ground on the day of the fly-in to film a cricket match. This will be at a height of 500ft and situated on the north western tip of the Nottingham ATZ.

Noise Abatement
“Runway 27 Climb out, turn left early to avoid built up area.”

For full airfield details contact the airfield.

There is no need to obtain a PPR slot but ALL pilots are requested to contact Tollerton on 0115 9815050 (admin) / 0115 9811327 (tower) before departure for an on-the-day briefing.

We have had a lot of interest from pilots planning to visit the airfield and hope we may see some forum regulars on the day.

Although the fly-in only takes place on the Sunday Tollerton is arranging a party on Saturday evening for those who would like to arrive early. Tickets cost £6 to cover the cost of the band but camping is free. Please contact Airfield Manager Will Flanagan if you plan to attend the party so they can cater for the correct number of visitors.
