Just the kind of incident that most troubles me. How many times have we all had confusion of who what where is number two on finals etc. This type of thing and ´congestion´ over popular navaids are the things that send a sudder down my spine...

I believe both aircraft were dual and we are looking at serious damage to write-off - yes?

One hell of a busy airfield I´ll give them that...

Every so often you have a moment giving pause for thought. Only recently I was demonstrating a fully developed stall in a 152, no forward vis, dropped the nose to initiate the recovery to be presented with an opposite direction 172 far too close for comfort who merrily whizzed down our right-hand side. My stude was an RN Observer so is used to keeping a good lookout like all service aircrew. The 172 was painted a nice light blue. I understand it's operator uses the type for instrument training. If so, neither of us would have had much chance to see the other. Hmmmm.
