latinaviation, please do not push me on the subject of use of English in this forum.

I would be very upset if I had to ban you from the forum, so please do not make me do it.

Sorry, it wasn't meant to push you in any way, that's why I put the summary in English at the top. Believe me, Spanish isn't my native tongue, so I am more than happy to provide English translations. I put the English summary first, with the link to full Spanish article along with the Spanish summary. I thought this would be acceptable, my apologies.

Rumours, romours, rumours....

If I could get a penny for every rumour I heard about SW, I could retire from aviation now. :ok:

Well, it wasn't a rumor but the deal is dead. GECAS was the lessor for the MD-11s, all ex-Swiss. They asked A4 to pony up the route authorities for MEX and FCO. The Mexican gov't had approved A4's service, but the Argentine gov't hadn't. This was breach under the leasing terms and GECAS canceled the contract. Argentina has since given the route authority to AR; they plan to fly to MEX with an A-310 and a tech stop in ACA on the way back.

As for A4 and Miami, I understand they dropped it. It was only once per week and the return sector (MIA-EZE) was a daylight flight, not too popular. The two 767s that were leased from Air Atlanta were sold to LanChile and A4 took on a LV- registered 763, which they cannot operate to Miami. Hence another good reason to drop Miami. That leaves Madrid with four weekly flights with the sole 763.

Saludos!
