I need to visit friends in Shrewsbury, looking at the CAA chart there don't seem to be any airfields close by. Any suggestions?

RAF Shawbury isn't that far away.

Sleap gets my vote. Lovely airfield & nice people. Get an arrival brief, though, as Shawbury is rather close and Sleap's inside the MATZ.

Criky, Shewsbury is surrounded by lovely airfields. Sleap, Rednal (PPO), Sherlowe (PPO) to name but 3.
Sleap's the obvious choice.
