I'll be there as a home-based pilot. Not sure the Bulldog's alternator will be fixed in time though.

AirBabe,

I thought you would have a PPRuNe tent sorted.

We will be in from Belfast in the TB20, would be nice to meet a few other PPRuNers

Hi there vintage ATCO,

If your in the tower at 10.30 remember those of us who have been up there for a couple of hours and might need a pee.

I'll land long or short or anywhere but no long holds please.

Vintage ATCO: You don't need to make a date with me, just whistle. :ok: Will you be stuck up the tower all day, or will you be allowed time out for good behaviour?

Can someone who knows the layout of Aerofair suggest a sensible place to meet at 12 ish for orange juice?

Flyin'Dutch'

The few times that I have been there was no beer tent or something of that ilk.

May be we could meet in the Flyer tent.

Dunno but will enquire.

As the Aerofair is over on the market site again this year, The Squadron buildings will be closed, but they will have a marquee selling beer, soft drinks etc and the BBQ outside on the Aerofair site. Last year it was down towards 02/20.

Meet there at 12-ish?

Perhaps someone who owns a PPRuNe hat could be there first and we'll all find each other.

They'll be held at noon on Saturday; you're all welcome to use our wigwam as a meeting point whenever, we should be able to do coffee etc.

Look forward to seing you all then.

Might pop in by road, although I must confess that I was somewhat less than whelmed by the event when I visited in a previous year by air (very good ATC though).

Rallye Driver, it's a pain about the alternator on the Dog isn't it? I was reduced to flying scruffy old G-IPUP the other day, but it's a sweet old thing (I did my skill test in it a few years ago, after first solo in G-TSKY) . Are you one of the Dog's owners, or just one of Roger's renters like me?

The Flyer awards are going to be handed out on Saturday at noon so that may make gathering there a bit less easy.

The venue mentioned by RD may be a better option if we want to stick to 1200.

Yes, I'm a 'rent boy' so to speak!

We had the alternator fail on us going to Abingdon Fayre, but the low voltage light didn't come on, so we ended up losing radios, flaps, everything.

I gather they now need a fixing bracket.

It always happens when the weather gets better. At least it's looking good for the weekend this time.

FD, that assumes we are not going to see Ian Fallon get his gong for NotamPlot -- I would have thought that time and location made it a good place to meet :D

R,

I thought that a man of your standing could be in 2 places at once!

Darn, another dream shattered!

Others suggested the time, I just thought it would be difficult to find each other when the Flyer awards are being handed out.

Of course will I go and see Ian get the award.

Okay... so how about initially at the Flyer tepee at 12 noon and the Squadron at 1300? I'm not sure how late I'll be staying as I've got to go estate agent hunting after. :ok:

I think it's a little unlikely that you'd 'bump' into PPRuNers at these events, unless you knew them already & could spot them at a distance. Some of them you can easily spot at a distance, but we won't go there........

Is it PPR to fly in?

FNG
20th May 2004, 08:55
Yes Wide, and you need an ATC slot (NW Radio is promoted to NW Tower, with special joining procedures for the duration of the show. There is an AIC about it somewhere.)

Might you be at WW on Friday PM?

Edit: Otherwise, if you want to fly in and can get a slot, can I please come with? The Cap 10 is busy frightening the punters this weekend.

If you are planning to fly in, then the AIC and full details are on the Aerofair website.

I'll be there too on Saturday. I have never been to any PPRUNE bashes (I was living abroad), I therefore don't know any of you but would like to. Should we all carry a copy of the Times and wear a bowler Hat?!

AerBabe
21st May 2004, 22:29
Hmm... my t-shirt is a common aid to identification, but I decided it would be prudent NOT to wear it on this occasion, in case networking opportunities arise. Just ask the rowdy lot if they PPRuNe. The answer is likely to be 'yes'. :ok:

The Squadron marquee is at the far end of the display line on the left, next to the main runway. Thee is a BBQ outside. If you go past the tailwheel Yak 52 and look to your left you should see it.

The Flyer stand is at the other end of the line just next to the main exhibition tent.

Hope to see some of you there.

Ditto all the above. Very pleasant to fly in by Rallye (not the one that carved Stik up in the circuit), with Wide Body and others. I thought that Will Curtis in the Sukhoi gave the best of the displays. Good to see Aerbabe, Eveepee, TonyR, Rallyedriver, Kolibear, and others. Alas, Stik, poor co-ordination: I am sorry that I only saw you whilst we were being jostled by those polite people in the bus queue, but your 4-ship of Pittses looked very good arriving.

I also want a tailwheel Yak 52...and a Cap 10c...and a Husky, and a Cirrus...and... and...

Great day ! Thanks to Kolibear for the tickets even though I spent 10 minutes trying to work out how to pin it on the right way. Problem solved by Aerbabe :D. - Great photos it was worth all that squinting into the sun !
It was good to meet some "old" Ppruner friends, and some new ones too !
Not sure what I'd do with a Yak 52 but I'm sure I'd find someone who would want to fly her while I could admire the view !:D

Problem solved by Aerbabe Yes, the cunning way I solved the problem of the safety pin/card being the wrong way round.... Instead of trying to manouevre the pin out, I just turned the card round.

A good saturday, even it was a tad chilly all day.

Driving onto the airfield at 9:15, it was amusing to see the number of cars coming out of the site. For the last 3 weeks, it has been well signposted that there will be no market this weekend, but that didn't stop some people from coming anyway.

The spotters were impressive by their numbers and by their movements. At 9:30, there were swarming over the static park, but by 11:30, they had all migrated to the flight line to tick off the arrivals.

We had a brand new unregistered aircraft on the stand - the standard spotter question was "whats the reg of this aircraft?" Excuse me ! its not registered thats why theres no letters on it. now. so there are one or two spotters with G-KOL, G-EADS & G-PRUN in their notebooks. Interesting how they wrote down the reg & constructors number, but not the aircraft type.

Thanks to vintageATCO for letting us come up into the inner sanctum - I've always wondered what the view from the tower is like.

Good to meet TonyR and crew, WideBody, FNG (at last), Rallye Driver. Mikecross, Blue Robin, Modern Dinosaur and the two hot chicks - eveepee & Aerbabe.

We had quite a few Rally pilots come onto the PZL stand and sit in a Koliber, all of then enthused about the old 'Tin Parachute' so they must OK..

Redsnail, Checkboard and I went along on Saturday. Got accosted by a nice man on the gate who asked if we wanted to be whip guests. We thought that sounded OK and were almost disappointed to be given VIP passes.

Saw a few people I knew but unfortunately excessive hospitality courtesy of Haywards rather curtailed my usual socialising.

Was a good day though.
